"Over the past 4 billion years, Earth and life have undergone radical changes. A complex series of reciprocal interactions has produced the world as we know it, from which we extract resources and with which life continuously interacts. Contrary to what our senses might lead us to believe, life has shaped the Earth's crust and the Earth's crust has shaped life. However, their changing trajectories are commonly studied separately."
The CoEvolve project is dedicated to understanding these interactions and how they have influenced evolution. The project’s research explores the intertwining of the biosphere and geosphere, revealing how life has shaped the Earth's crust and vice versa. This advanced understanding offers significant future applications, including bioremediation of heavy metals, manipulation of the human microbiome, and new methodologies for the search for life in the Universe.
To better understand the co-evolution of the biosphere and geosphere, researchers travel to locations where metals reach the surface from the Earth's depths, such as hydrothermal vents and hot springs. In this context, Garmont supports the CoEvolve project by providing durable and reliable outdoor footwear, essential for tackling the terrains of the most demanding scientific missions with total comfort and safety.
However, this collaboration goes beyond equipment supply; it represents our commitment to continuous discovery and sustainability to actively contribute to a future where knowledge and the conservation of our planet go hand in hand.
