In summer, the mountains offer relaxation, fun, and adventure. Whether you are travelling with friends or family, Europe has many destinations that can offer unique and memorable experiences.

Some of the mountain activities you can take part in include hiking, excursions, climbing, and long walks, discovering amazing landscapes. Or you can take mountain bike rides, go horseback riding, canoe, windsurf, take leisurely paddle boat rides, or go fishing to enjoy some peace and relaxation in nature.

In terms of the number of destinations, you are truly spoilt for choice. Let’s look at a few to include in our list of possible trips!

Let’s start in Austria, with Innsbruck, a city surrounded by mountains that offers cultural attractions thanks to its Empire-style architecture and the castles of Tratzberg and Ambras. There are also the hiking trails on the Nordkette, the panoramic mountain range offering breath-taking, 360-degree views of the entire area. A perfect destination for the whole family.

Another place we recommend in this area is Werfenweng, with its lakes and its walking trails. There is also the opportunity to paraglide from high ground.

Black Forest - GermanyFor those who have Germany in mind as their next destination, the Black Forest is an absolute must visit. Here you can admire the colour of the forests, the Alpine lakes, the mountain lodges, and the mountains. Those travelling with children will definitely want to see the largest cuckoo clock in the world and visit the silver mines.

If you are looking for a destination that will satisfy beach lovers as well as mountain aficionados, you could opt for Corsica. It has gorgeous beaches and crystalline waters that make for a contrast with the area inland, so full of mountains and valleys featuring streams and silent forests. One of the most famous trails in this area is the GR20, which is one of the most beautiful and challenging footpaths in Europe. It crosses the entire island, from north to south.

Slovenia is the perfect destination for those longing for waterfalls and lakes, and it has a great deal to offer: Bovec, Kobarid, and Mount Triglav are some of the places worth a visit, along with the Soฤa River and the Tolmin Gorges.

Finally, Scotland is another must-visit locale, which we talked about in another post. Here, you can discover its many castles and magical places.

This summer is all about adventure. A summer following the #StayWild theme!
